Very Fun! Whale Watching!

ERY FUN!
WHALE WATCHING IN THE SAN JUANS ISLANDS.
I had a great trip aboard the "Mystic Sea Charters" for whale watching in the beautiful San Juan islands. The weather was perfect, the boat crew was friendly and informative, and I learned a lot about the various whale "pods," their habits, and some personal characteristics of whales we observed. A very fun day with good friends, a great crew aboard the Mystic Sea, including Captain Monte and First Mate Leisel. Highly recommend this trip. Great to see the whales, but also supremely wonderful travelling through the San Juan islands. Destinations depend on where the whales are spotted, and this is an environmentally-friendly cruise.




Oh, and did I mention "Frank's Franks?" Frank is onboard to provide Coney Island style Hotdog-stand-on-the-beach lunch fare. A definite summer destination!

My Dad's Favorite Song "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine."

My father played this song on his guitar and sang it when we were little. He passed away May 23, 2010. He was 95 years old, he would have turned 96 on his birthday June 11, 2010. Goodbye Daddy.

LOVE BIRDS

My neighbor called me over to look at this pair of seagulls, who return each spring to cuddle on this same spot in his yard each year. They sit side by side and coo and cuddle each Spring, he explained. By Fall, one of them leaves, to return the next year. How sweet is that?

Rainbow Bridge

Great shot of the Rainbow Bridge in LaConner taken from my yard. The second picture is a boat passing by on the Swinomish Channel. I used my iPhone camera with the Hipstamatic filters to capture the shot. Aneta Genova from www.bobbintalk.com suggested I try these filters on my iPhone camera and I love them!! Look at the Blooming Colors

uite a site! Blooming Color!

April is the Tulip Festival in La Conner, Washington, and it really striking. I recently moved to this area, and it is truly beautiful. A land of water and lush farmland that produces remarkable crops such as these tulips fields. These tulips draw crowds from all over the world.

A Lovely Day for Kayaking

• uite a lovely day for kayaking on the mostly unfrozen lake. Gliding through the water next to the ice made little bell like noises - almost like chimes. One of Nature's beautiful sounds.  Though cold, it was sunny and beautiful. 
  Most years, the lake is usually frozen at least until March or April.  So this was a treat.  I saw bald eagles, canadian geese - yet still too cold for the fish to dart about.  Here is a picture of my young neighbors coming back from a great paddle.  I had come back earlier, after being out for about three hours.  What a GREAT DAY!

is for love. Happy Valentines Day!

Every Valentine's Day of my adult life, my mother would send me a vintage valentine from her own collection. Most of the vintage valentines in her collection had been previously sent to her favorite Uncle York years before, from a ardent admirer named "Alta."

Alta had pursued my mother's Uncle York for many years, as can be traced by the collection of postmarked valentines my mother sent me years later.

Uncle York had been rakishly handsome, and very kind. I know little of his admirer "Alta."

Alas, York and Alta's love story was a story of unrequited love, as he died in World War II.

Nevertheless - here's to LOVE!
